Life begins with lots of fun and enjoyments and we remain unaware about reality till the realization appears suddenly and bumps upon our happy life and leaves us with only option of fighting back.
Now let’s discuss some personal experiences when things hit hard. Usually the admission process for 11th standard begins in November and unfortunately I couldn’t occupy a seat through direct admission in the very same school I was studying for five years and hence I had to apply and appear for an interview separately thereby clearing it and taking admission consecutively. From that time onwards I had to face eventual incidents where interacting with new people, appearing for an interview ,taking a crucial decision became the new routine. Though as a child we don’t have the fear of interaction but as we grow up we tend to develop hesitation .
Let’s consider a hypothetical condition of complete absence of fear, if it happens there cannot be a possible way of defeat or failure. For instance if a biker ,a chef and an actor are not scared of falling ,criticism and people’s review respectively then there is no possible way to stop them from riding ,cooking or acting with their in-hesitant attitude and complete potential and the ideal example of fearlessness is a child who is not intimidated by anything and hence despite of falling he dares to stand up and keep trying repeatedly .That child is alive in us all waiting to be explored .We need to breakthrough the invisible boundary that the imaginary fear creates.
If we delve deeper we will find comparison to be the root cause of fear.
Three prevalent social comparisons are:
- comparison with others.
- comparison with self.
- comparison with situations.
Everyone wants a happy life but success and failure doesn’t arrive equally to all however stopping comparison may help us to avoid the fear of failure. A short story will make the concept crystal clear.
A group of four students from the same school, same class and incidentally taught by the same teachers were about to appear for 12th board.
The first guy was prodigious and was expected by the teachers to be the topper hence he was pushing himself to impress them and to fulfill their expectations. The boundary of fear he created for himself was terrorizing him about the consequences of failure(this is comparison with situations).
The second guy was competitive and desired to score more than his fellow mates as a result he created the same boundary of fear unmindful of the fact that it is hindering his potential to score 100% and bringing it down to 50% which is the level of his classmate and thereby setting 50% as a benchmark that too with an evident doubt(this is comparison with others).
And the third one gave his 100% in pre boards and now was worrying about how could he score better thereby creating a boundary of fear by self comparison.
And the last but not the least was a lazy mediocre student who lacked the will to study .Though he failed in his pre boards, he decided to leave things behind and teacher’s and people’s opinion aside and focused on his subjects for the sake of knowledge and understanding therefore not tormenting himself but enjoying his time . In the exam hall he was least bothered about his marks rather cared about expression and execution of his knowledge. Hence he dissolved his fear and broke all boundaries and made himself unstoppable through a genuine purpose .He was ought to win as he didn’t care about being a topper or a flopper but focused on giving his 100% in three hours of time.
Such fearless people though rare are found in every field like business, singing ,painting ,cooking etc. But being actually fearless demands plenty of internal self development because richeries don’t make people fearless neither setting great goal in life does because life is not a staircase rather a sequence and series of hills and valleys.
To conclude to a relevant solution we will arrive at faith as an answer .Faith in ourselves and our work.
Almost everything that we are doing now are the application of knowledge we gathered as a child long ago .We are just picking experiences, executing and proceeding forwards. The child within us is what inspires us to take one more step ahead without hesitation.
Fear is an instinct naturally incorporated within physical system. It is the very basis of our existence which keeps us alive and alert and influences us to aspire to move from darkness to light, hopelessness to happiness. In the eons taken together we survived due to this single attribute which incidentally clouds our senses and contracts our functioning but at the same time contributes in avoiding the unknown dangers. But for people who love to live a life of valour, we have got an option of surpassing the boundary to explore the unknown by diminishing fear . Someone rightly said- “Fall down 7 times ,get up 8”.
When you don’t care about victory or defeat and work solely for the sake of contentment and satisfaction is when you begin enjoying life in your own way and that stage of unconditionality once reached can make us absolutely resistant to any possible obstruction. “Because someone who believes in other will face his destiny but the one believing in self has the power to design his own destiny”. This invincible power of self belief ,purity in desire and attitude of unquestionable integrity will lead us to a dimension of life beyond all possible imaginations.
